The plugin version of the VREV-666 expands on the original’s feature set by adding a mix knob, a pre-delay control, and a simple EQ. The pre-delay goes up to 150 ms, which is fine, but it would be handy to have the option for longer pre-delays.

Another welcome addition is the built-in limiter which prevents internal digital clipping. Its threshold is controlled by the Effect Limiter knob, and the green GR light bulb indicates that the limiter is active.

Spring reverbs aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. They have a distinct sound quality that is unrealistic but, at the same time, undeniably charming and unique. Spring reverb is one of the main “secret spices” in genres like reggae and dub.
